Dark Minimal Project – Pleasure Is A Sin (Review)

When the Fall Begins to Glow

Sometimes electronic music reveals its true staying power only years later. Peter’s “Heartbeat Mix” of our song “Die Liebe” dates back to 2015 — yet, carried by a viral moment, it suddenly climbed to No. 1 on both the German and American Alternative Charts. It is a late echo that says a great deal about the way Peter works. He never chases a fleeting effect. He creates spaces in sound that can still hold you years later.

That same instinct runs through Pleasure Is A Sin. Released on September 26, 2025, the album was arranged and mixed entirely by Peter, who also produced it alongside Guillaume. Together, they shaped eleven songs into one vast, shadowy canvas. Every beat, every texture and even every silence feels connected to a larger emotional movement.

“Staring Away” opens the album like a door slowly giving way. The track rises out of restraint, allowing rhythm and atmosphere to gather before the voice becomes more urgent. The chorus does not simply arrive — it pulls the whole room apart. Its power comes just as much from the brief moments of withdrawal as from the impact of its return.

“In My Veins” feels even closer to the body. The bass holds the song in place while the vocals and synths press against one another. Here, intimacy offers no comfort. It becomes something beneath the skin, something that refuses to leave. Guillaume, Ange and Peter build the track with remarkable discipline. Nothing feels excessive, yet everything carries tension.

The album’s emotional core is not found in rhythm alone. It also lives within the words. Desire, guilt, distance and redemption appear as forces that feed upon one another. Angels and devils are more than familiar images from the darker musical vocabulary. They sound like two voices speaking from within the same divided soul. The vocals move between invocation and eruption, between control and the moment it finally breaks.

“This City” carries that conflict into an urban landscape. Its steady pulse moves through concrete, artificial light and isolation. The city is alive, but it offers no warmth. That coldness is precisely what makes the song so affecting.

In the end, “The Great Fall” gathers every tension the album has created. The track grows slowly, its layers becoming denser as the ground seems to disappear beneath the voices. The fall is not presented as spectacle. It becomes a state of being — one that lingers long after the final sound has faded.

Pleasure Is A Sin does not simply aim to sound dark. It has depth, tension and a life of its own. Guillaume and Ange give it its vulnerable soul. Peter gives that soul shape, weight and breath.

This is music that does not merely fall — it glows on the way down.

Genau diese Handschrift prägt Pleasure Is A Sin.

Am Ende führt „The Great Fall“ alle Spannungen zusammen.

Pleasure Is A Sin möchte nicht nur dunkel klingen.
