Summer 1989: The world is on the brink of a monumental change. The fall of the Berlin Wall is imminent, and as the political system of East Germany crumbles, Erich Honecker’s last high school class steps into an uncertain future. At the center of this ZDF documentary is Sara, a young woman embarking on adulthood with her dreams and ideals. She experiences the collective rupture that shaped her generation and all East Germans to this day. Sara becomes a witness to a time of upheaval, where the familiar order collapses and new opportunities and challenges emerge. Im Mittelpunkt der ZDF-Dokumentation steht Sara, damals eine junge Frau, die mit ihren Träumen und Idealen ins Erwachsenenleben startet. Sie erlebt den kollektiven Bruch, der ihre Generation und alle Ostdeutschen bis heute prägt. Sara wird zur Zeugin einer Zeit des Umbruchs, in der sich die vertraute Ordnung auflöst und neue Chancen und Herausforderungen entstehen. Diese Doku erzählt auch ihre persönliche Reise durch den Riss zwischen zwei Welten, der bis heute in den Biografien der Ostdeutschen nachhallt.
